Decide what the garage should do for you
Choose one practical goal: park the car inside, reach the freezer, use the workbench, or open the storage cabinet without moving boxes. That goal helps you decide which items are in the way and which belongings still earn their space.
Start with a manageable section instead of pulling everything into the driveway. If the garage is crowded, avoid climbing over piles or reaching for unstable overhead items. Tell the crew about access concerns when you send photos.
Make three groups: keep, remove, and review
Use clearly different labels for each group. Mark the keeper shelves as well as individual items, especially when useful storage sits next to unwanted furniture. Put uncertain belongings in a review group and resolve those decisions before loading starts.
Check pockets, drawers, and closed boxes for keys, paperwork, photographs, and small valuables. Ask other household members about shared sports gear, tools, and seasonal decorations. A five-minute conversation can prevent a much larger misunderstanding.
Photograph the full removal scope
Take wide photos and close-ups of bulky pieces. Show what is behind the first row of boxes, and note any items that are bolted down, connected, or unusually heavy. A picture of the carrying route is useful if there is a tight door, step, or long distance to the driveway.
Do not conceal liquids, batteries, or chemicals inside ordinary boxes. Keep those items separate and identify them before pickup. Acceptance needs to be confirmed, and some materials require a different disposal option.
Prepare for the visit without doing the hauling
You can leave accepted removal items in the garage. The crew handles carrying and loading. Arrange gate access, make sure an authorized person can review the scope, and identify where loading can take place. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
Before the first item moves, walk through what stays and what goes. Review the final on-site price and ask about anything unclear. If you add more items after the initial estimate, have the updated scope confirmed before loading them.
Keep the recovered space useful
Once the removal is done, give the open area a specific purpose. Leave a clear parking bay or set aside a small, defined zone for incoming items. Store the belongings you use most where you can reach them without shifting an entire row of boxes.
You do not need to buy a new storage system immediately. Use the cleared garage for a while first, then decide what shelves or bins would actually help.
