Start with ownership and destination
Decide which belongings are moving with you, which remain with the property, and which you are authorized to remove. For a rental or shared home, confirm those decisions with the appropriate people. Do not assume that everything left in a garage is available for disposal.
Label the moving boxes distinctly from removal boxes. Keep important documents and small valuables in a separate area. If family members are making decisions remotely, use a numbered photo list so everyone is discussing the same objects.
Work backward from your real deadline

You do not need to carry everything outside. Leave a clear distinction between the removal items and the move-ready belongings, then review both groups with the crew. Keep keys, garage controls, and handover documents out of the load.
Check the cleared area before handover
Walk through the garage after removal and compare it with your original scope. Make sure keeper items remain and anything excluded from the pickup still has a plan. Check cabinets and shelves for belongings you intended to take.
